Mr Alatishe has also previously raised concerns regarding his personal safety and security in connection with his living environment as a result of threats of violence against him. The fundraising initiative emphasises transparency and states that it is not intended to influence any legal outcomes. Speaking about the initiative, Mr Alatishe said:
