"What is Anger?" is a question I am constantly asked by those close to me, as well as the millions of others worldwide who seek an answer for that age old question. Anger is a normal and healthy response to an event or situation that makes us feel inadequate, frustrated, or angry. Anger is also the natural and healthy response to many situations that require us to defend ourselves or another person. When anger becomes excessive it can lead to a host of problems such as depression, self-harm, suicide, and even serious crimes.
The problem with anger is that some people let it control their lives and are unable to communicate it or find effective ways to express it. Controlling anger means being able to express it when it is necessary and in an appropriate manner. Controlling anger also means being able to forgive those who have offended us, or at least make the choice to do so in order to move forward.
If you have difficulty expressing your anger and finding effective ways to do so, it may be time for you to consider taking anger management classes.
