May, 2020 , Las Vegas, Nevada —Clyde Mcknight’s debut album "11:11" already is receiving airplay in 10 top U.S. cities. Producer Harmony Samuels helps bring out the popstar's retro 90s vibe, paying homage to Ginuwine with its sing-along lyrics and sexy pop culture references.
It makes sense that Clyde was inspired by the 90’s being that his is a 90’s baby who has been flirting with chart success since 2009, he was formally signed to Interscope and appeared on Lisa “Left Eye” Lopez’s posthumous album “Eye Legacy” on “Block Party”and released the catchy song “Simon Sez” before his departure with the major label. The opening track of his debut 11:11, “Outta Your Mind,” makes it clear he knows his self worth and if you don’t to get to steppin, he sings with far more confidence than he did a few years ago and conveys vulnerability in his vocals “It’s been awhile since I hit you up I heard around you got a life now” on “Question” featuring The View hostess’s Eve.
When he is more aggressive, it works just as wonderfully. It’s evident in 11:11’s first single, “Smooches,” which now includes the “Queen” Nicki Minaj on the album version. There are other “I’m horny as hell”-themed tracks, like “Horny,” though the clean version doesn’t quite work as well “I know that you can’t take it.” I don’t know what spurred this sexy raunchy futuristic banger.
Few debut albums have been met with such a warm reception other production comes from Eric Bellinger, Ester Dean, Prince Chrishan and HITMAKA to name a few. After the Covid-19 pandemic ends, Clyde McKnight will spend the next three months promoting his powerhouse sultry vocals. Rolling Stone is doing a one-page feature on the Seattle born talent next month.
