Welcome to the New Image Surgical Weight Loss Center, the only Center in Westchester County, NY dedicated exclusively to the care and treatment of Bariatric patients. Our goal is to enhance your ability to achieve significant weight loss and to provide you with the support and comfort that you need during that process. Your needs and desire are important to us and we will address any issues that you communicate to us. Our one-day evaluation allows patients to receive all the tests necessary to achieve insurance approval in one day. This simplifies the pre-op certification process for the patients and is especially helpful for our out-of-town patients or patients traveling great distances.
We are pleased to offer our patients with morbid obesity multiple avenues to achieve weight loss. We offer surgical weight loss options with all the currently available surgical techniques to achieve weight loss including laparoscopic surgery (gastric bypass surgery and gastric lap-band surgery). The benefits of our laparoscopic surgeries is that it is less invasive which leads to less pain, easier and faster recovery and improved cosmetic results.
We also provide non-surgical weight loss techniques including behavior modification, dietary aids, and supplements.
Obesity is one of the major health problems that the United States faces and also the least acknowledged treatable illness. The majority of Americans are overweight. The diet of the American society greatly attributes to this. Fast food with high fat and calories to sugary sweet soft drinks are the acceptable diet for most Americans. Most struggle each and every day with weight loss and dieting. Dieting and fad diets work for the short term, but almost always, the dieter regains the original weight PLUS additional weight. But for some, it is much more than dealing with a few extra pounds, it can be a matter of life and death. Morbid obesity is diagnosed when an individual is 100 or more pounds over weight and faces increased health risks including heart disease, hypertension, diabetes, as well as certain cancers.
Obese individuals often try unsuccessfully to lose weight by dieting, commercial weight loss centers, hypnosis, pituitary hormones, appetite suppressants and behavior therapy. These are all short-term relief efforts for people but those who are 100 or more pounds overweight are doomed to failure. Studies have shown that the only way for obese people to successfully lose weight and maintain that weight loss is from gastric bypass and gastric lap-band surgery combined with nutritional counseling. With this combination, weight loss surgery success rates are very high. The positive benefits from weight loss surgery are life-changing! The gastric bypass and gastric lap-band surgeries can cure or control many of the serious diseases that accompany morbid obesity. Most diabetic patients improve dramatically, many of them not needing medication after surgery. High blood pressure is also resolved in more than half of the patients. Sleep apnea and other sleep disturbances improve or disappear. The same may occur with urinary incontinence, acid reflux or menstrual problems. Swelling of the legs and joint pain also diminishes, preventing later problems. Many infertile women become pregnant and have a safer pregnancy and delivery. The changes in cholesterol and other blood lipids reduce the risk of heart attacks and strokes and in return prolonging life.
Although all these medical reasons are major benefits of having weight loss surgery to control morbid obesity, there is another equally important reason. The quality of your life will greatly improve and open up doors for you that were otherwise closed. You will feel great about yourself and others will see your new self-confidence and self-esteem.
