At The Center for Bariatric Surgical Specialties at Syosset Hospital, our physicians specialize in laparoscopic surgery, including bariatric/weight loss surgery and techniques such as the LAP-BAND® System. Our state-of-the-art facility on Long Island, New York offers the latest technology in a safe and comfortable setting.

Our team is comprised of two surgeons, Dr. Alan C. Geiss and Dr. Colin J. Powers, two Physician Assistants, two registered dieticians, a psychologist, and multiple other health professionals who assist in the care of our practice. Every member of the team takes pride in our program and the success of our patients.

We perform a wide range of laparoscopic and weight loss surgery procedures at our Long Island, New York office. While we specialize in the LAP-BAND® System , we also perform most other surgeries that can be executed with a laparoscope, such as Revision of Roux-en-Y Gastric Bypass - ROSE, gastric bypass, gallbladder surgery, and laparoscopic sleeve gastrectomy - LSG.

Dr. Geiss is board certified by the American Board of Surgery. He is a member of numerous medical and surgical societies including the Fellows of the American College of Surgeons, the New York Medical Society, the Surgical Society of Alimentary Tract Surgeons, the Society for Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery, the Society for American Gastroendoscopic Surgery, and the Society for Laparoendoscopic Surgery. He is published in numerous scientific peer reviewed surgical journals including the Annals of Surgery, Surgery for Obesity and Related Diseases, Obesity Surgery and Surgical Endoscopy. Dr. Geiss has also presented his work at many national surgical meetings.
