Jefferts Schori to Preach Sunday, November 14 at 10:30 a.m.
Parishioners, neighbors, friends and visitors are all invited to hear the Most Rev. Katharine Jefferts Schori, Presiding Bishop of the Episcopal Church, preach at the joyous Bicentennial Eucharist. A festive party that caps off St. James' Bicentennial Year will follow the service.
Katharine Jefferts Schori is the first woman primate in the worldwide Anglican Communion and the 26th Presiding Bishop of the Episcopal Church. Prior to being ordained as a priest in 1994, she had a career as an oceanographer with the United States National Marine Fisheries Service. In the 1990s she was dean of the Good Samaritan School of Theology in Corvallis, Oregon and assistant rector at the Church of the Good Samaritan in Corvallis. In 2001 she was consecrated as the Bishop of Nevada and in 2006 was elected at General Convention as the Presiding Bishop of the Episcopal Church. Her newest book is The Heartbeat of God: Finding the Sacred in the Middle of Everything

At the service, St. James' clergy will wear for the first time new copes donated and designed especially for the Bicentennial. Visiting clergy who have been associated with St. James' Church in the past will participate in the procession and the choirs and brass will be accompanied by the St. James' Bicentennial Organ.

All who attend will receive a commemorative booklet that highlights the many facets of the St. James' Bicentennial Celebration over the past fourteen months.
The banners above will take you to coming events of special interest.
