WELCOME TO HIRSHFIELD EYE ASSOCIATES
Hirshfield Eye Associates was founded in 1990 by Gary S. Hirshfield, M.D., F.A.C.S., a board-certified ophthalmologist and eye surgeon. Dr. Hirshfield is a graduate of Yale Medical School. At Hirshfield Eye Associates, the philosophy is simple . . . pay attention to the needs of the patient. That's why this clinic is different. Each patient receives individual attention from Dr. Hirshfield himself instead of relying on ancillary staff so he can perform all the pertinent aspects of the examination of the patient to ensure quality.
At Hirshfield Eye Associates, patients have access to a comprehensive range of services including a well stocked, in-office optical department and contact lens fitting department. All necessary equipment and diagnostic testing is located on site. All minor surgery and most laser procedures are done on premises. All other surgery is done at the prestigious Mackool Eye Institute where Dr. Hirshfield has access to technology and instruments only available to the top eye surgeons in the country.
Our goal is to make your visit with Dr. Hirshfield as convenient and pleasant as possible. That's why we participate in nearly all managed care plans and union plans as well as Medicare. Parking is available in the building, and if major surgery is necessary, transportation is provided on the day of surgery at no cost to the patient.

MULTIFOCAL VISION IN NEW YORK
When a cataract is removed, it is replaced with an artificial intraocular lens (IOL). There are a variety of IOLs that can be used in cataract surgery, and they each have their own set of advantages and disadvantages. No single IOL works best for everyone, and only your ophthalmologist can determine the most appropriate IOL for your needs.
