Medical Service Dog Seeks Community Support

Tennessee, TN, Vash Belew, a 22-year-old autistic adult living with hypoglycemia, is reaching out to the public for support in funding a professionally trained service dog that will provide critical medical and daily living assistance.

Vash has already identified and begun saving for the perfect puppy, lovingly named Optimus (nicknamed Oppy), who is set to begin training at Medical Mutts, a respected service dog training facility based in Indianapolis. Once fully trained, Oppy will be a certified medical alert dog equipped to assist with both autism-related needs and hypoglycemia episodes.

"This dog won't just be a companion, he will be my lifeline," said Vash. "He’ll help me navigate daily life safely and independently. Oppy represents a chance at greater freedom and security."

While Vash is able to provide for the puppy’s day-to-day care, the specialized training required for Oppy to become a certified medical service dog comes at a high cost. All funds raised will go directly toward Oppy's training, with any surplus allocated to his ongoing professional development.

Inspired by a lifelong love of Transformers, naming the pup Optimus is a symbol of strength, transformation, and hope, qualities that Vash believes Oppy will embody throughout their partnership.
