USA (Feb 07, 2022) - Students willing to take the SHSAT examinations can qualify for accommodation if they meet certain criteria. Usually, there is a 504 accommodation. Students are required to have the plan reviewed and approved by every school. People have an individualized education plan that also includes test accommodation. The primary language is not English language learners students can receive testing accommodation for around 2 years beyond the passing of language test.

However, it is important to note that any accommodation requested by a student needs to be documented in the existing 504 plan. Moreover, a student is not allowed to request accommodation just for the shsat practice they are required to show an existing accommodation plan.

According to the laws of New York State, there are exceptions for students who can produce special needs or temporary disability 30 days before the exam. Please emergency accommodation should be approved by a school principal. Family emergency testing accommodations include a change of test setting, an extension of testing time, taking breaks for changing the test response or test presentation method. 

Parents should work with their child School guidance counselors to register students for the exam. Registration takes place during the eighth-grade year. At the same time, parents can request testing accommodation for the child.

Every candidate will receive a shsat test ticket containing the date of the testing session. Parents should make certain that the recommendation listed on the testing ticket is correct. If not they can work with the school counselor for resolving any potential issues. Parents should also guide their children when they prepare for the exam. Visiting the New York City department of education website for checking or downloading the handbook is necessary for doing well in the examination.
