Khartoum (September 05, 2021) - “What started as a family business in 1956 has now had a lasting impact on the Sudanese economy despite the tough times the country went through.”

CTC Group was established with a long-term belief in the potential of the country and its people and as Mr. Ahmed Amin Abdellatif took over as president of the group 10 years ago, he continued this vision during the time when the country needed it the most. In 2011, Mr. Abdellatif combined the effort of the whole group to even further widen the agribusiness solutions as CTC Farms were established to address the needs of the growing corporate farming sector back then.

Mr. Abdellatif noted in a speech he gave at a forum held between the Corporate Council of Africa (CCA) and the U.S.-Sudan Business & Investment Forum that Sudan has 10% of the world’s unused arable land (46,025 hectares), while Brazil, Russia and Australia together have 31%. “With a potential for agricultural growth of more than five times its current capacity, the country has a lot to offer investors” Mr. Abdellatif says.

CTC Group also extended to include the CTC Foundation, a division led by Mr. Abdellatif that has extensive operations in the areas of public health, education and poverty alleviation, with a particular focus on capacity building in the agricultural community. The CTC Foundation also supports many local youths and cultural organizations.

Mr. Ahmed Abdellatif places special focus and attention on bringing the development of the Sudanese population. CTC is engaged in running apprenticeship and graduate programs to give vocational training and university graduates the opportunity to build successful careers. To further accentuate this, Mr. Abdellatif leads CTC into an active role when it comes to sustainability. The group has set itself several Sustainable Development Goals to be achieved by 2030 and Mr. Abdellatif is fully aware of the role and responsibilities the group brings to the table as a leading corporation in the field.

From what started as a family business of 50 people, CTC Group now has over 1500 professionals with at least 35% of the workforce being female.
