Some Thoughts about WoW Burning Crusade Classic
6/29/2021
WoW Burning Crusade Classic is hot now, here are some thoughts of it

The first major patch for Shadowlands will be available in less than 24 hours on the 29th; hopefully everyone uses the calm of the content to prepare for it. If you're not sure what to do, you can check out our latest article on Preparing for 9.1. There is one general change to this list, however. A recent blue post from Kaivax made it clear that the PvP season will end with the patch, but the Mythic + and Raid season will not change until July 6th. This means that players must complete the Cutting Edge, Leading Edge, Keystone Conqueror, and Keystone Master Achievements by July 6th.

This is a slight departure from previous patches where the new Mythic season and previous raid achievements were no longer available once the next patch was released. If I had to guess why I would say that based on current material requirements and caps, players won't be able to upgrade their Legendaries until the week of July 6th. One of the reasons for the season and achievement reset is that there is now equipment with a higher item level and the increased player strength makes these achievements easier. Adjusting the legendary upgrades to reflect the release of item level upgrades would help things keep things in sync.

It's also possible that it makes more narrative sense to delay entry into the raid until a certain story step is complete. Of course, it would also mean Blizzard let the narrative drive the cars, which frankly is great. However, I think it is unlikely. It's also possible that Blizzard feels that the new dungeons and raids need more tweaking, or that one is working while the other needs more attention. The release of a new M + season, dungeon, or raid would allow players to equip a little more gear before trying out other new content and could mess up the standard difficulty curve. Whatever the reason, it makes the most sense to post all of this content together.

One of the ways I've looked at while waiting for the chain of domination is to upgrade my druids in Burning Crusade Classic. Unfortunately, I've also had some serious problems in real life, so I'm not as advanced as I would like to be right now. I'm only level 63, so I still have a long way to go. I still remember why I like Zanga Swamp more than Hellfire Peninsula. For one, the aesthetics of Zanga Swamp are more to my liking. It's very lush and uses a much more bluish color palette, while the Hellfire Peninsula is much more barren and red all over. Sure, skybox is both cool and pretty, and there are plenty of other colors, but that's about it.

Another reason I prefer Zangar Swamp, which I completely forgot about, is that the quests are more focused than in Hellfire, especially at the beginning. There are two nearby towns in the Zangar Swamp that are where most of the quests can be found, and most of them take place on the east side of the map. As I moved through the area, I slowly moved west. There are about eight small quest centers in Hellfire. All of these made me wander around, which made quests difficult to put together. The result was that I was more comfortable in Zanga Swamp than in Hellfire. Nonetheless, I did two quests in Hellfire because I went crazy. No, I enjoyed the quests and the different quest lines there. I just wish I hadn't spent most of my time walking around the area.

My BCC guild was a good fit in Karazhan, and I think they currently have four groups a week. It's great to hear them discuss and reminisce about past battles. It's kind of funny because there has been a ton of great battles in raids and dungeons over the years, but some of my favorites were in Kara. I mentioned earlier that Netherspite and Nightbane are two of my favorite fights. I also really like Opera, Shadows of Arland, Chess and Prince. And yes, I'm talking about "Shadows". It's frustrating when the people in the Ring of Fire can't keep still, but it's also a brilliant fight.

I wish I had some rest in my real life so that I could squat down and catch up on BCC asap. Of course, I also have to deal with the new storyline and the togast level in retail. But that's my choice. Anyway, I look forward to seeing all of the new content in 9.1, especially since I have mostly managed to stay spoiler-free.
