‘DotLand: The Politics of America’ by C.L. Buchanan is an easy read for kids ages 8-13 who are looking to better understand how American politics works. The author recently said his book can be used to help children “release their inner Nancy Pelosi”, meaning kids can take away not only the basic beliefs of the Democrats and Republicans but can also decide if a career in politics is for them.
“FREDERICK DOUGLASS SAID, ‘IT’S EASIER TO BUILD STRONG CHILDREN THAN TO REPAIR BROKEN MEN,’ AND IT WAS THOSE WORDS THAT DROVE ME TO WRITE DOTLAND. IF SO MANY OF THEIR PARENTS ARE NOW BEYOND THE REACH OF THE TRUTH DUE TO THE DELUSIONS SPUN BY CONSERVATIVE MEDIA, WE SHOULD REACH OUT TO AMERICA’S CHILDREN BEFORE THEY ARE LOST AS WELL.”
DotLand: The Politics of America currently is available as an eBook or as a paperback at all major retailers, including Amazon. The book has red dots and blue dots, and a mix of those two in between. Each category of dots has a different set of beliefs about public funding, education, healthcare, and more. The book offers basic but real-world insights on the differences between red dots and blue dots and asks children what their own thoughts are on the various topics.
“We want libraries and schools, even parents, to understand this isn’t a book about sides. This is a book about the fundamental principles, the ideas, that make up the Democratic and Republican parties. The author’s goal was to make children think about the motivation behind each parties’ actions, as well as identifying the truths and myths in anything they hear or see on tv within the home,” said Tanya Vece, publicist for author C.L. Buchanan.
House Speaker Nancy Pelosi recently did an interview on “knowing your why then knowing your what” with MSNBC news. The one thing author C.L. Buchanan and Pelosi agree on are the why and the what. Knowing why and how something works and then what to do with that knowledge is as important as possessing the ambition to create a better society in the future. Further, it is important to know that kids also use the differences they learn in ‘DotLand: The Politics of America’ to help shape their own opinions- even encouraging a life in public service -- as they grow older.
Author C.L. Buchanan is available for interviews and special reading appearances. Galley copies of ‘DotLand: The Politics of America’ are also available upon qualified request. Paperback and eBook are both available now on Amazon, and the eBook is free for a limited time to members of KDP Unlimited.
