Mystique Life is a brand in South Korea that serves their customers with rare innovative products, resolving the small and large discomforts in daily life. Teamed up with 11 experts in diverse fields, the company aims to nail down the customers’ pain point in the most accurate way. Their new product Razorbooster is a razor blade cleaner and sharpener that lessens the discomfort found in shaving.
Studies show the biggest reason for skin irritation is when the razor blade is dull or is not taken with proper care. Razor blades are likely to have bacteria, dead skin cells, old shaving cream, and hair crops stuck between. In fact, a rising number of men in South Korea are getting face wax or laser hair removal to avoid skin troubles caused by shaving—beard dandruff, bumps, and pimples. Simon Lee, founder of Mystique Life, came up with the product after witnessing skin irritation from numerous people after shaving.
Razorbooster, with its electronically rotating rubber blade, takes off the dead skin cells and bacteria piled up between the blades. Using the sanitizing liquid that comes with Razorbooster, it eliminates 99% of germs that cause skin irritation. It also prolongs the lifespan on the razor blade.
The short lifespan of razor blades is what makes people affixed to disposable and razor cartridges. In 2019, the Gillette Mach 3 razor cartridge brand sold 6.9 million units in the US and the Gillette Fusion ProGlide Power brand 4.2 million units excluding the blade refills, according to Research Gate. The adverse environmental impact of razor blades was discussed by the US Environmental Protection Agency when they estimated 2 billion razors and refill blades tossed out each year. Non-recyclable plastics and steel threaten wildlife and spread toxins. Mystique Life believes Razorbooster can help the environment.
“Razorbooster is for everyone who ever wanted a better shave,” said Daniel Jang, Marketing Manager of Mystique Life, “and who also might have wondered why he was spending so much on blades while negatively impacting the environment.”
Lee said it wasn’t easy to make Razorbooster compatible with various companies. The company overcame the adversity by testing out the product with the most consumed razors: from 2 blades to 7 blades and from women’s to men’s. Razorbooster is inclusive of women who need to shave sensitive parts of the body as well.
Unlike the previous products that were sold mainly in South Korea, Mystique Life is launching its third product Razorbooster on Indiegogo, reaching out to a wider audience. Lee plans to grow the company into a global brand. Razorbooster have experienced doing a crowdfunding campaign in South Korea, having 4,400 backers and raising $160,000 through the prominent South Korean crowdfunding platform Wadiz. On Indiegogo, the product raised $15,000 in two days. Razorbooster can be found on Indiegogo as they feature special prices for a limited time.
