A Carpet Installation Marietta GAdevice is basically a special tool used for installing wall-to-wall carpet over any area of your home. The tool grabs the carpet by means of a pair of tines in the hand with a rope at its end. The rope is wound around the handle of the tool to tighten the carpet around the attachment of the tack strip on the opposite wall.
When the carpet is stretched, you will need to remove the tack strip and pull the piece of carpet backing up from the wall. Be careful not to over-stretch the backing. You can do this simply by pulling the strip back out of the wall, taking care not to damage the adhesive or the backing of the backing. Do not make the mistake of trying to pull the backing all the way out because you will actually ruin the backing rather than stretching it. In addition, if you pull the backing too far out, you may even end up breaking the backing of the backing itself.
Once the backing is removed, you will need to install a second tack strip on the opposite side of the room. Now you will need to place the stretching device on top of the strip and pull it across the room until it reaches the opposite tack strip on the other wall. Now you simply repeat the process with the next wall until you reach the center of the room. It is important to be very patient when you are stretching out carpet backing. If you have a piece of carpet that tends to be tough to stretch, you should not try to stretch it until it is dry.
Once you have made it to the opposite tack strip on the opposite wall, you will need to pull the strip back in. Be sure to apply just enough pressure to keep the carpet pulled tight. Once the strip is pulled in tightly, you will want to take a few steps back and let the carpet cool before you start laying down the next piece of backing. This will help keep the backing in place and prevent tearing.
The process is very similar in that if the backing is to be installed on the other wall but it starts from the other direction. the middle of the room and goes all the way to the center of the room, there will be more than one tack strip and one string of backing to deal with. The reason for having to have multiple layers is so you don't end up with a bunch of loose carpeting or an entire wall.
Another reason for having to have more than one backing to deal with is that sometimes you'll have an entire wall covered with carpeting but you don't want to take away all of your room with one push of your hands. In this situation, you can just roll up two or three tack strips across the entire wall. In the event that one of those pieces of carpeting fails, you can always pull it back out and try again. When you have multiple pieces of backing to work with, it makes it a lot easier to get the ones that are attached together and secure. For example, if you have a strip that attaches to your carpeting and a matching strip that is attached to your backing, you'll only have to stretch the first strip on top of the backing to get it attached to your carpeting.
Stretching your carpet is usually much simpler than you might think and it really doesn't take long to complete the task. If you're looking to purchase a stretching device, make sure that it is durable and strong. A less than durable device might be too flimsy to stretch your carpeting properly. Make sure that you get one with a very strong rope and a good versioning mechanism.
Finally, remember that the wall in which you are stretching the backing must be strong enough for the weight of the backing. If the wall is weak, you can damage your carpeting and even have it ripped up. Before you begin the stretching process, you should test it by walking on it before you begin the stretching.
