By mixing the breed of poodle with the strain of Cocker Spaniel, a Cockapoo is created. The poodle's coat is a major reason why the poodle is mixed with different strains. The poodle's coat doesn't shed and is hypoallergenic, meaning that the poodle is (in my opinion) the best dog breed to get if you suffer from allergies. Most people will not have an allergic reaction to a poodle.
By mixing two strains Cockapoo Puppies become less prone to genetic disorders. Poor breeding, such as mating a brother and sister, is a reason for genetic disorders. Breeding with an entirely different bloodline from a different breed strengthens the gene pool of their dogs.
When Poodles became a popular dog, this caused a very large demand for poodle dogs. Poodles were created for money not health. Inbreeding and unhealthy breeding happened rampantly causing hereditary health issues for future generations of those poodles. The same bad breeding was performed using Cocker Spaniels as their popularity grew.
