Juneau, AK - September 12, 2019 - For a truly wild Alaskan experience that will live with you forever, why not get up close and personal with the Humpback Whales in their natural habitat in Juneau, Alaska?
Join a small group of travellers and experts to experience lush and vibrant temperate rainforests, exquisite snow-capped peaks and flowing glaciers, with your only neighbors being the feeding humpback whales, curious sea lions, playful porpoise and soaring eagles.
The trip-of-a-lifetime is being laid out by Above and Beyond Alaska, an employee-owned local guiding company which has been offering hiking expeditions and memorable experience to Alaska's wilds since 2002.
They are based in Juneau and have been providing journeys around the region by kayak, foot, boat, plane, or helicopter for more than 17 years.
Juneau is nestled below the Coast Mountains and beside the ocean in the heart of
Southeast Alaska's temperate rainforest. ABAK are experts in exploring the Tongass National Forest, glaciers of the Juneau Icefield, and waters of Alaska's inside passage.
It's in the Inside Passage waters where ABAK will be hosting the Paddle with Whales Kayak Adventure. Space is limited as they will be taking a six-passenger boat for an entirely personal experience.
Having been picked up and transported to a boat harbor north of Juneau, the passengers will board their small boat and be whisked away to the Channel Islands State Marine Park while scanning the seas for marine wildlife.
"Once we reach the remote island, we'll launch the kayaks to explore this amazing wilderness area," described ABAK's Caitlin McElhinny.
"The encounters with the whales are intimate and amazing. Throughout this trip, our expert guides and boat captain will share their local knowledge of the area and interesting information about the wildlife and their behaviors."
And you'll need to keep your eyes peeled - as the wildlife offers harbor seals, steller sea lions, Dall's porpoise, harbor porpoise, orca, and numerous bird species including bald eagles and blue heron.
"Be prepared to take in the beauty of glaciers off in the distance and the majestic mountains of the Chilkat and Coast Ranges. Once back at the harbor, our van will be awaiting your return to drive you back to Juneau," she added.
.
"This eco-adventure is suitable for all levels and will surely provide a new perspective on what's possible in the world of remote Southeast Alaskan exploration."
The trip will take around six hours to take and will cost $389 per person + 5% sales tax, For a private tour, the cost is $1999 + 5% sales tax (this can include up to six people).
