How to Minimize Symptoms of Menopause
1/8/2019
Menopause is a real fear for many women.

Menopause is a real fear for many women. They associate it with the end of their youth, beauty, and sexuality. It’s important to understand that it is a completely natural process and doesn’t mean the end of life. A woman can still be beautiful, happy, and healthy after menopause. However, the transition period can be tough.

Menopause is a period when a woman’s ability to fertilize fades away. This process takes about 10-15 years and can be divided into three periods:

Perimenopause (takes 4-5 years)

The physical and psychological changes start in a woman’s body during her premenopausal period. Usually, this process starts after the age of 45. The first symptoms could be emotional breakdowns and are often unnoticed. In this period, the first changes of menstruations begin.

Menopause (around the age of 50) when menstruations gradually stop

During this period, the function of the ovaries is suppressed. The exact age when it starts is very often genetically conditioned. In women who smoke or never had children, it can start a bit earlier. The most distinct symptoms are the so-called hot flashes combined with heavy sweating. They usually last for 1 - 1.5 years and may be very annoying for a woman.

Postmenopause (after they have completely stopped)

The ovaries stopped their production so all the unpleasant symptoms and hormonal fluctuations are over. Very often, a woman is quite happy during this period, living her life to the fullest and not having to deal with monthly bleedings.

How to Minimize Discomforts During Menopause

To reduce the manifestations of menopausal symptoms like hot flashes, nervous breakdowns, and mood swings, it is important to bring positive changes into your lifestyle. This will have a positive effect on your self-esteem as well because many women feel very self-conscious about their appearance during this time.

  • Maintain a healthier diet by reducing fats and adding more fruits and vegetables

  • Reduce alcohol and caffeine consumption

  • Reduce your time under open sunlight

  • Wear comfortable clothes that will not make you sweat and won’t be too tight

  • Fitness exercises will help you feel and look better

  • Relaxation techniques like yoga, meditations, breathing exercises, etc, will help cope with stress and bring you into a peaceful mood

Don’t forget that if your menstruations have stopped, it is not an excuse to miss your regular pelvic examination. Your intimate health still requires regular supervision because with age, the risk of diseases increases, so it’s important to be sure everything is okay.
