29, May 2017: “You can see from the get-go that Danii Roundtree has harnessed together a strong album filled to the brim with soul. Her energetic sound backed by The Retro Rebels caters to a big band ensemble fueled sound.” - Celebrity Cafe
I.M.P. Music PR announced today that Danii Roundtree, the noted jazz & R&B artist will be performing at the 40th Annual atlanta jazz festival on May 28th. The Atlanta Jazz Festival is one of the country's largest free jazz festivals. Other prominent acts on the lineup include Robery Glasper, Macy Gray and Freddy Cole. Known for her charisma, powerful vocal range, and dynamic signature sound, Danii has been turning many heads in the music industry with her unforgettable live show performances and the unmistakable passion she exhibits onstage and on record. Critics are raving and fans are scrambling to attend what is sure to be an eye-opening performance. Danii Roundtree is an Atlanta native, which makes the event all the more special for her.
Danii Roundtree's new record Memoirs is due out at some point later this summer and fuses the influences of artists like Amy Winehouse, Billie Holiday and Eryka Badu. Of the upcoming performance Danii had this to say: "This truly an exciting time for my career. Making my Jazz Festival debut at the 40th Annual Atlanta Jazz Festival is both thrilling and an honor. I'm looking forward to making my mark as a new face within the Jazz arena, and bringing my signature "Retro" sound to the stage." Fans of artists like Janelle Monae & Solange will be flocking to see this American Idol semi-finalist, Miss NYC 2008 and Berklee College graduate unleash her truly unique stage show on the masses.
This is one of the busiest periods of Roundtree's career. Not only does she have the upcoming festival appearance and the highly-anticipated release of Memoirs to look forward too but she also recently dropped a single, “Crave”. EDMSauce wrote of the release, “Her voice rides on top of jazzy instrumentation and shifty percussion perfectly. If you're up for a change of pace kick-back and listen in!” Toss in a handful of lucrative upcoming dates throughout the region and you start to see that this Broadway veteran is an artist seemingly destined for long term success.
Critical acclaim for her music is at an all-time high with The Urban Buzz saying, “Danii Roundtree puts a her bright and colorful twist on classic soul. It’s a time-warp when listening to her 60s do-wop and swing inspired anthems.” Meanwhile, The Word Is Bond raved, “Dani Roundtree has a winning voice, the kind you want to glide an old record needle over, the kind you open living room windows for on a Saturday afternoon while you sit on the porch drinking a sweet, punchy tea.” These are just drops in the ocean of positive press – all speaking to the timless power of her music.
Saying of her record, "Memoirs is an album written from true life events. We all have that one love story that ends before it starts. And I just so happen to be a singer/ songwriter who documents through song. This album is literally a collection of my memoirs. All the records are personal. The sound has a throwback feel that is Jazz-oriented with Funk and Soul elements; cleverly coined as 'Retro'. I hope to one-day transition into acting, so I wrote the album as though it was a never-ending Retro movie soundtrack. Ultimately, with the end goal of its contents being put in television, film, commercials, and one day becoming its own short film." It's easy to see why the upcoming performance at the Atlanta Jazz Festival will be one for the ages!
