Miriam K. Deitsch, President of Miriam K. Deitsch, Ph.D., Counseling and Consulting Associates, counsels people of all ages at various stages of life and career development. Her focus is on career and educational planning as people resolve personal issues that relate to making effective life decisions. Dr. Deitsch's counseling practice is enhanced by her experience as a professor of human development at the State University of New York, where she received the prestigious Chancellor's Award for Excellence in Teaching in 1997. Dr. Deitsch was recently elected to the Board of Directors of the American Heart Association. In April 2002, Dr. Deitsch was promoted to the rank of Distinguished Teaching Professor by the Board of Trustees at the State University of New York. She is the first woman in 90 years to be honored with this title.
Dr. Deitsch helps adults change careers or find satisfaction in their chosen careers. Whether change is precipitated by personal choice or is forced due to workplace downsizing, Dr. Deitsch helps design effective strategies for clients to achieve success and get back on track. She also successfully guides clients through the maze of college and graduate school searches and provides a supportive and encouraging environment, where they become empowered as they master new learning and apply it to critical life decisions.
