Adoption Highlight: The Herman Family
Deb and Dave Herman of East Amherst added two new members to their family on September 14, 2010. They legally adopted Anna and Jaiden, ages 4 and 2, respectively. Deb and Dave were the grandparents of Anna and Jaiden, and became foster parents of the children in October 2008.

The adoption was attended by several family members, including new aunts Nancy Mohr and Kathy McCarty, as well as the children's new cousin, Kaylee McCarty.

"Jaiden is such a ham. He always enjoys being the center of attention," his new mother, Deb, noted. She added that both of her children are very outgoing.

Adopt-An-Angel Campaign Is Underway
Christmas is just around the corner and Gateway-Longview "Angels" are ready to for adoption. This year, we have over 800 "Angels," or children in our various care programs, waiting to be adopted by generous community, corporate, church and individual supporters who make Christmas merry.

The Adopt-An-Angel Christmas Campaign includes children enrolled in Gateway-Longviews Special Education, Community Services and Residential care programs. Every year, we tend to fall short on gifts for our teenagers. We know everyone loves to buy for our tiny angels, but Christmas can be extremely difficult for older youth, especially those who do not have a home or loving family with which to share the holidays.

The Angels are now ready for your holiday adoption. We ask that all gifts be new and unwrapped, so that our professional staff are aware of each gift being received by the children in care. Angel gifts will be gratefully accepted from Wednesday, Dec. 1 through Friday, Dec. 10.
