What is Tae Kwon Do?
Tae Kwon Do is an ancient form of self defense that originated in Korea.
Tae means to kick or smash with the feet. Kwon means punching or destroying with the hand. Do means the way or method.
It is a collection of organized techniques that are used to generate great power in unarmed combat. It is also concerned with the growth of spirit and attitude, which carry over to all aspects of life.
Glens Falls Tae Kwon Do is a member of USA Tae Kwon Do and World Tae Kwon Do Federation.
Hap Ki Do
Our latest program is beginning to develop some very talented martial artists as well. Hap Ki Do doesnt involve dozens of kicks, forms, sparring, bo-staff work or aerobic work, as does Tae Kwon Do. Hap Ki Do involves joint locks, traps and throws which can be learned and applied by students of any stature. A five-foot tall woman can apply techniques with amazing results upon much larger, stronger males. It makes a very effective self-defense system ideal for not just men, but high school girls, college-bound women, or women in the workplace. If youd like to visit our dojang (school) on Tuesday evenings between 8PM and 9PM, or Wednesday evenings between 7:30PM and 9PM, you can observe a class first-hand and see if this program is for you. Its a chance to learn and grow while raising self-esteem and confidence.
Tuesday: 8PM 9PM Hapkido (Ages 13 and up)
Tai Chi classes are also offered on Wednesday mornings at 9AM. The cost is $10 per class.
