Welcome to the No Maintenance Decking & Trim Home Page. Primarily, we are specialists in Alternative Decking & Railing products. We stock over 90% of the top two brands, Trex and Timbertech. We purchase the materials up front, which gives us the ability to offer the best pricing of Trex and Timbertech in the region. Our competition says that they will match our price but they will have to special order the product resulting in a longer wait time. Since they are not decking experts, they will never be able to advise clients as to the proper methods of the deck building process. As the 2010 Decking season gets in full swing, the ever-evolving alternative decking market has one new product, Trex Trancend. The Decking market in the past 5 years has seen more customers choosing the major brand names than ever before. See Table H1 below. With this in mind, No Maintenance Decks carries the most popular brands Trex, TimberTech, Azek and our house brand, Tandeck, all of which have all-plastic decking in their product lines. At No Maintenance Decking & Trim, we believe that periodic cleaning is all you should ever do to your deck, which is why we specialize in plastic decking. We carry the complete decking lines of as a former deck builder (25 years), Ive utilized many different decking products. Some of these alternative products are so poorly made that you may do better with a wood deck. We offer our customers what we believe are the best decking materials available at the best possible price.

You can hire an approved decking contractor from a list of deck builders that we know that can do the job correctly.
You can buy the materials and hire a carpenter to build your deck. This will save you money and every year many of our clients do this and have very positive results. Unfortunately, we also get reports from clients four months later that the deck was never done correctly and they have hundreds of dollars in damaged materials that cant be returned.

In a previous paragraph, I mentioned the new Trex Trancend Decking & Railing. This product sports a composite platform (core) with a polyethylene cover. Trex Trancend has a 25 year NO STAIN & NO FADE warranty! Although this decking has a composite (wood and plastic) core, it is not like the composite decking we have been using for the past 15 years. Please keep in mind that when I refer to composite decking, I am not placing Trex Trancend in that particular list of decking products.
Customers who purchase wood composites think they are buying a low-maintenance product that they hope will last a long time. What they are getting is a product that will fade, stain and is highly susceptible to composite mold. We know that a chain is only as strong as its weakest link. The weak link in all wood & plastic composites is the WOOD, which is actually sawdust made from waste materials. If you would like your deck to look great for many years, then a standard wood composite decking product may not be right for you.
At No Maintenance Decking & Trim, all we sell is decking and railings and, therefore, we are experts in the alternative decking field. Other retailers that sell decking also sell roofing, siding, insulation and plywood. Their sales staff needs to know a little bit about a lot of products. Therefore, they do not have the depth of knowledge on decking and railings. They will never spend the time to educate you as well as our staff can and will do at No Maintenance Decking. We have done all the homework for you. Weve looked at all of the products currently in the marketplace. Some have very good features and others are not much different than all the rest.
We carry four brands with almost 25 different colors of all plastic decking and since they are all durable, the only determining factor is the color, texture and method of attachment to the frame. The next factor to consider is railings: do you want a rail or maybe because of height, you need rails? If so, railings are available in white or in a color to match your deck. Trex carries a very versatile railing line that allows the homeowner to mix colors to obtain a unique look for you deck. Fascia boards cover the rim joists and are available in white & other colors to match the decking.
Plastic decking is different from wood decking and the benefits far outweigh the detriments. The positives are that the decking will hold its color many times longer than all wood composites. This coupled with the fast soap and water cleanup makes it an easy decision. The negatives are that all plastic decking will expand and contract with temperature fluctuations more so than wood decking. Cost is always a concern. A Trex Trancend, Escapes, TimberTech XLM and Azek 6 deck board will cost about 15% more than Trex Accents or Timbertech TwinFinish. Our house brand, Tandeck, which is an all plastic decking product, will cost less than Trex Accents or TimberTech Twin Finish and have much higher performance (durability).

As you can see from the table above, Trex and Timbertech have 34% and 14% of the US sales, respectively. The Long Island numbers for these brands are much higher. The reason is that with the proximity to the ocean and the harsh climate, Long Islanders know not to use low grade wood composites like Veranda, Choice Deck, Evergrain and Fiberon. The minimal difference in cost and the much higher performance of PVC and Polyethylene accounts for the higher sales with decking products in these categories.
