In the middle of Fedeal Plaza in Monroe is The Island Girl store, where Julie Wong Schwartz a master Seamstress, measures, fits and does alterations on all kinds of clothing... She even designs and makes her own line of clothing from patterns, for women, men and childeren.
Originally from the Island of Borneo, she has over 31 years of expierence and has worked as a seamstress for the prestigious Brooks Brothers.
Julie opened Island Girl eleven years ago after working locally doing alterations for many dry cleaners. "You can take your own clothing to a dry cleaner to get alterations done, but I custom fit the garment to you and do the alterations/talioring myself." Leather alterations and repairs are also availiable.
Julie takes pride in the quality and speed of her work. "I've helped many customers out of big jams! It makes me feel good. I've developed a long list of very satisfied customers and friends."
Island Girl is a must see if you need anything altered or tailored. She also sells exotic ladies' clothing and handbags from around the world, and designs and makes curtains.
