HISTORY & BACKGROUNDCorporate Identification Systems, LLC., with offices in Harrison, NY and it's affiliation with plants throughout New York, specializes in architectural signage design, manufacturing, installation and sign planning services for small business, corporate office, architects, engineers, educational facilities medical centers, and municipalities.
The company was started in New York under the d/b/a/ Corp.ID and Sophisticated Signs, in 2000. Corp. ID's mission was set to provide high quality signage systems that address both the architectural and engineering criteria required by the clients represented. Additionally, Sophisticated Signs' mission was to provide signage with a high perceived value for clients with limited budgets. One of the first projects awarded to Corp. ID/Sophisticated Signs was the Parsons Memorial Elementary School Sign which was located on the front lawn of this historic school on Harrison Avenue; Harrison, NY. The original Parsons sign was replaced with a reader board sign so as to better communicate events to it's students and parents.
Corporate Identification Systems' owner Nicholas Mumola, has worked on many of the premier architectural structures in the United States. He is affiliated with numerous sign professionals whom have extended the market of Corporate Identification Systems, worldwide.
ABOUT THE OWNERNick started in 1977 as a skilled corporate architectural sign installer with a midtown Manhattan firm. During the early 1980's, Nick was affiliated with three major architectural sign companies in NYC. Nick was a member of the sign division of International Brotherhood of Sheet Metal Workers Local 137 and a working foreman/production manager of a thirty men Union Shop.
It was late 1981 that Nick was promoted to production manager and plant foreman of a company known as "The Other Sign Company" (TOSC). TOSC's manufacturing plant was located at 220 West 19th Street in NYC and it was there that he gained a complete knowledge of the Architectural Sign Trade by working on signage projects for some very notable architects, designers and high profile business professionals. The highlight of his stint with TOSC was managing the production and the installation of all the interior signs at TRUMP's Plaza Casino in Atlantic City, NJ. "This was a $650,000 contract that had to be performed under a Bond with an 6 month expiration, and every sign back then was handcrafted using "cutting edge" antiquated machinery and techniques, as computerization had not yet taken its' hold on the industry," says Nick.
Prior to his career in the sign industry, Nick was an Aeronautical professional who worked on the Lunar Modules 1, 2 and 3 while at Grumman Aerospace in Bethpage, NY, and he was a plane captain and flight line officer on the US Navy Aircraft Carrier USS Ranger as well as the USS Saratoga, during the Vietnam Campaign.
After his four years stint in the Military he studied Art & Advertising at New York Technical College, and at the same time was a working partner of Atlantic Lettering Service, East Rockaway, NY. Nick and his partner, Lou Grasso, popularized Awnings as "Signs" in New York City by offering their services as graphic artists and sign-painters exclusively to small awning manufacturers who could not afford to keep a full time sign-painter on staff. Because of their quality graphics, techniques and results, Nick & Lou were out-sourced by one of the most well-known and oldest awning manufacturers in the USA, with very prestigious clients that were located in some of Manhattan's wealthiest shopping districts. Among them were, The Plaza Hotel, Lord & Taylor, Saks Fifth Avenue, Russian Tea Room, and numerous Art Galleries along West 57th Street in Manhattan.
Two years prior to forming Corporate Identification Systems, Nick headed the NYC real estate department branch of a nationwide out of home advertising company known as Outdoor Systems Advertising (now CBS Outdoor). Nick had the daunting task of organizing and overseeing the procurement of 500 leased billboard locations throughout New York City, Long Island and Westchester County. After he accomplished this mission the company was acquired by the media giant VIACOM (now CBS Outdoor) for hundreds of millions more than it was worth when he came on board.
With years of experience in such diverse industries and over a decade of experience in the sign industry, Nick has pulled all his experiences, skills and knowledge together to form a sign company with credentials like no others. He does do nice things!
