Our Customers represent a cross section of Troy’s history. Troy is a famous old town situated at the confluence of the Mohawk and Hudson rivers which is also the beginning of the Erie Canal. The boats from New York City off loaded their cargoes here and the goods were stored in local warehouses and then transshipped onto barges for their journey up the canal. It is also the home of the detachable collar and cuff, and a significant cast iron industry. There are also several Universities, Colleges, and Private Schools in the area. While changes in shipping and manufacturing industries have adversely affected the economy of Troy, activity in construction for Education has continued apace and is still an active source of work. Conversion of mill and factory buildings and mercantile buildings and stores to other uses has created a demand for firms experienced in alteration work. Duncan & Cahill, Inc. has been proud to be able to answer that demand.
