The Definition of Health
The World Health Organization defines health "as a state of complete physical, mental and social well-being and not merely the absence of disease or infirmity." How many people can honestly state that they are healthy based on this definition, myself included. Life happens. A big part of being a spiritual being having a human experience, are the lessons we learn and grow from experiencing stress, fear, loss, and non-wellness. We take control where we can. We can make choices that enhance our health, or we can make choices that potentially will have a negative impact on our overall health. As my Dad said near the end of his human experience, "If I'd known I was going to live this long, I would have taken better care of myself." Shouldn't we take a moment each day to evaluate our state of health? Shouldn't we ask ourselves if there is something we can do to alleviate a new pain that has appeared, help ourselves get better sleep, make better food choices -- to at least strive for that "state of complete physical, mental and social well-being?" The Healing Adventure is about having choices. Make the choice to be proactive when it comes to health and wellness, not merely reactive to aging and disease as it edges its way into your human experience. Make the choice to stop by -- ask a question, have a conversation, borrow a book from the lending library, get started with a nutritional supplement, let's strive for wellness together.
