See why we are the most honest engine rebuilder anywhere in the area. No shop is as quick, qualified, or convenient. All of our mechanics are certified. Having been in the area for 30 years our reputation is as important to us as your engine is to you. Todays newer engines need rebuilding after a serviceable user life of 10 to 12 years. So we look forward to working on the 1996 to years 2000 engine rebuild. The auto manufacturers have made things better for us as a machine shop in the automotive engine rebuilding industry. With lighter weight parts, longer service intervals and more computerization of engine functions, the wear and tear on todays engine are pretty cut and dry. Each engine needing a full rebuild will have suffered from neglect or lack of proper maintenance. With a good amount of work to be preformed on these engines, short of catastrophic failure the engine can be brought back to like new conditions and performance. In the rare case of a need for speed and a large wallet, advancements in the tuner market can make the family chariot a power wagon. One might also convert the econo car into a thrill ride of a lifetime.
Some of the things to think about when you send your engine off to a good machine shop......
At 5 Star Crankshaft and Engine Rebuilding we do our best to work for your best interest. Is it really worth it to send your engine across country or even over sea's..possibly our labor rates are very competitive, in addition our attention to detail could save you allot of money. Our head engine builder cares and spends time counseling each owner as to the best course of action to take. Our industry is changing and hopefully we at 5 Star Crankshaft and Engine Rebuilding can fill the niche that best serves..you the customer. It goes without saying we compete with the remanufactured engine market. It's us against them, and all we have to offer is a way of doing business that we believe is right. We use the right parts and do the work that is required without trying to be the company looking to shave corners, eliminate steps and save ourselves money by using parts that will just get by till your warranty is expired. I don't know any other to say that.
Normally an engine that has been taken care of will show no wear on the crankshaft journals. So when your engine comes in all beat up, don't think it's a mystery how it got that way. These things leave tell tale signs, just like they could talk! We feel the need to stand up for the crankshaft and make sure it doesn't get neglected in the rebuild process. So by all means, let us carefor the working arm of every engine.."your crankshaft".
The head itself should be assembled by a professional machine shop. there is a lot of work involved. Valves must be measured for wear along their stems and be checked for stem straightness. Valve springs must be checked that their natural released height is within limits and not compressed from age. Valve guides must be check for wear and replaced if needed. Camshaft bearing races should be checked for wear and out of roundness. Camshaft bearing surfaces need to be checked. The head itself needs to be checked for sealing surface flatness. If the head surface is found to be uneven, the camshaft bearing races must also be align machined. It all requires thousands of dollars in machinery and time by a highly skilled engine machinist.
These days the temptation is too due just the minimum amount of work to get the engine to run and the customer back on the road. That is just unfair to many parties involved. The symptom that is repaired on a partial tear down of an engine will only resurface again. The customer losses when the car is back in the auto mechanic's shop, the auto mechanic's reputation is on the line for not fixing the vehicle the best the first time, and the cycle of the unhappy customer who can relay his bad experience to many people is played out again and again. This we see to much off, as an example the head that is brought in from a late model vehicle. The engine is worked on for 4 hours to remove and replace the head...the part that is replaced the head gasket. What value did that customer really receive. What enormous value would have been gained if the CYCLINDERHEAD was rebuilt?
