Welcome Fall! The days are cool and the nights cooler still, the air smells crisp and the leaves are starting to turn. The perfect time to try a new apple scone recipe, pumpkin pancakes, or pear compote topped waffles. I even have a very different pumpkin scone recipe! And the advent of fall is not the end of fun events in Lewiston.
October brings us the River Region Scarecrow Exhibit, come vote for your favorite scare crow. October 3rd is the Porter Cabbage Festival. If you can't make it to the Fort, the Power Vista has a Spoktacular on October 30. Plan some time to go through the Corn Maze in Wheatfield, too.
Our Lady of Fatima Shrine starts their Festival of lights November 20, and that event is followed on November 28 by the Ransomville lighting of the wreaths, and from December 1 thru January 4 the Power Project's Festival of the Trees.
We are gearing up for our annual open house this December 4th and 5th, along with Lewiston's Tour of Homes, and in conjunction with the Christmas Walk. We've found that the simpler down home breakfast items are in greater demand than the gourmet items. The most requested item is by far, Sunny's scones; multigrain, whole wheat, oat, as well as blueberry, cranberry-orange, or pecan praline. Sunny makes the scones fresh every morning, so give her your preference early. Add homemade orange-honey butter to fresh baked scones warm from the oven. Send us an email and we'll share the recipe.
Breakfast at Sunny's Roost is served in our large dining room. We've decided to create a menu to help spark your breakfast appetite. You can choose from any of the following or ask if we can make something special if these suggestions make you remember another taste you want to experience:
Here's a sample of breakfast items Sunny just loves to make:
