Text Message Fraud Alert

Members should be aware of a new financial scam involving text messaging that has been uncovered. Scammers are sending fraudulent text messages to cell phones, stating that a debit card has been deactivated with a phone number and instructions how to reactivate the debit card. If you receive one of these text messages:

Do NOT respond to the message or dial the phone number given in it.
Report the receipt of the message immediately to Westchester FCU using our published office numbers 914-397-6055 or 914-422-2555 or via e-mail to member.nosp@m.services@westche.nosp@m.sterfcu.org

Phone Scam Alert

We have been made aware of a telephone scam that recently targeted Auburn Community FCU and is circulating throughout the country. Targeted credit union members are receiving an automated message claiming that their credit union has suspended their Visa card and instructing them to call an 800 number to reactivate the card. When the consumer calls the number, they are prompted to dial in their account number, expiration date, and PIN number. They are then instructed to press ‘1’ to reactivate the card. Duplicate cards are being created in Spain and used to withdraw cash or make purchases.

Fraud Alert

If you receive an e-mail claiming to be from the National Credit Union Administration (NCUA) about participating in a survey in exchange for money, you should not respond or visit the web site as it is fraudulent.

Changing Contact Information

Effective November 1, 2008 new federal regulations to prevent identity theft have been implemented regarding change of name, address, or phone number. All changes must be made in writing and accompanied by supporting documentation. The form is available online.
