Welcome to IBID Prep

In over a dozen years as a private tutor, I have worked with students from the finest private and public high schools in the New York City metropolitan area. In that time I have become known for offering highly personalized attention and care. Students under my wing master the skills necessary to maximize their test results and gain the perspective, attitude and discipline to deal with what lies ahead.

College Guidance

The college application process can be very difficult for families. In addition to being a somewhat complex technical process, applying to college can also be a somewhat complex emotional process. In my college guidance program, I consult with parents and students every step of the way and work to achieve goals and mitigate anxieties. I provide lists, create application checklists that include all the necessary websites, forms, applications, supplements, short answers and essays required. I also schedule testing, tours and informational meetings, make calls and maintain the peace among all parties throughout. Having worked so long with both teenagers and their parents, I am able to navigate my students and their parents deftly through the rocky shoals of the college application process.

Academics

In every students academic career there are certain key moments during which vital concepts are either grasped or missed. When they fail to grasp certain basics, students often find themselves perpetually behind in certain subjects for the rest of their school days. Some of the most important moments occur around the learning of division, fractions, spelling and basic reading comprehension. It is important that parents reach out for help at these junctures.

Classes give students an overview of the content and form of the test, offer them an approach to each type of question, and teach them how to manage their time and skills on the real thing.
Class packages cost $600 and include:

Six 90-minute classes each led by an experienced Associate Tutor
Small class sizes of ten students or fewer
Classes held on weekends at either our Brooklyn or Chelsea locations
Three proctored practice tests

All students who enroll in the PSAT course receive an automatic 15% discount on all subsequent classes

SATs and PSATs

The SATs are taught, like all our tests, directly from the test outward. The SAT is divided into Critical Reading, Writing and Math Sections, so I stress the basics: vocabulary, reading, writing, grammar and math. [See SAT/PSAT Basics].Furthermore, just as the College Board knows the foibles of the teen mind, I know them better and teach students how to avoid their own worst pitfalls. I focus on the test and the teen.

ACTs

The ACTs are a more blunt instrument than the SATs. Though almost as long [with the optional essay], the test is always in the same order down to the reading comprehension passage selections. Most students find the format of the tests and the nature of the questions therein far more direct and pleasant to take. However, while the ACT is, generally, an easier test to take, is isnt necessarily easier to do well on.
