Your Sunday Reader Your Sunday Reader is a joint podcast of St. Mary Parish and Working to Beat Hell. It contains the readings for the upcoming Sunday followed by a brief discussion. A great way to prepare for weekend Mass!

Greetings! Welcome to the St. Mary’s website! We are located in Canandaigua in the heart of the upstate New York Finger Lakes. We are a vibrant community offering many services and enjoying rich worship, lively activities, and active school within picturesque City of Canandaigua. We invite people to visit and warmly welcome those who desire to share in our community life. There are many ministry areas available depending on one’s gifts and talents. When you are at St. Mary’s, you are home!

For the past several years, St Bridget's and St Mary's parishes have been clustered and actively working toward becoming one parish. It is hoped that this process will be completed in July, 2011, when we will be one parish with two worship sites.

Firmly rooted in the Catholic doctrines and traditions St. Mary’s Church, through the power of the Holy Spirit, fulfills its mission by following the ways of Jesus Christ. We, the parishioners who are St. Mary’s Church, represent Jesus Christ to our community. Our mission is to follow the way of Christ in our thoughts, words, and deeds, and to make Christ more fully present in all who live within our community.

On Saturday, December 4, 2010, the Madrigalia will be at St. Mary's offering a concert on seasonal music. The concert begins at 7:30 p.m.; tickets are $10.00 and are available at the church office or after Mass on Sunday. This is a great opportunity to hear magnificent music from a well-trained choir and enhance the Advent Season we begin. Mark your calendar now and join us for a warm evening of music for the season.

At St. Mary's, we will have a 7:30 a.m. Mass and a 9:00 a.m. Mass on Thanksgiving morning. We hope that you will make prayer with your community a part of your Thanksgiving Day. Happy Thanksgiving to all!
PARISH LIFE THANKSGIVING DINNER
Join us on Wednesday, November 17th, at Noon in Dougherty Hall for our Annual Parish Family Thanksgiving Dinner. Great way to celebrate with your Church Family. We will supply the turkey, potatoes and gravy. Cost of admission is your favorite dish to pass! Reserve a spot by calling 394-1220.
WE NEED MITTENS
We are in need of knitted mittens for infants and young children (14 and under) for this year's Christmas Assistance Program. If you would like to make a donation of mittens, please bring them to the St. Vincent de Paul clothing room in the Thompson Co-op Building at 120 N Main St, room 31, or in the clothing collections box at the back entrance (#5) to the Thompson Co-op Building also at North Main St. . You can also leave them in the PAC. We need the mittens and all knitted items no later than Wednesday, December 1. The mittens will be distributed with the Christmas Baskets to many families in the Canandaigua area. Thank you for your ongoing support of this very important community program.

The 2011 Mass book for St Mary's is now open. Because of the number of Masses requested and the limited number of Masses offered at St Mary's, we ask that you please schedule only three masses per person. Stop by the office to schedule.
CHRISTMAS PAGEANT PARTICIPANTS
It's not too early to plan for Christmas Eve! Children of the parish are invited to be part of the 6:00 Christmas Eve Liturgy at St. Mary's. We are looking for children in grades 2-6 for the following roles: singing voices, narrators, Mary, Joseph, Angels and shepherds. If interested please call the PAC and we will refer you to the proper person.
CATHOLIC MINISTRIES APPEAL
Here are just a few of the activities Catholic Ministries Appeal supports: a.) educating our children in the Catholic faith; b.) serving our people in need through Catholic Charities; c.) supporting Catholic Schools; d.) ministering to young Catholics on college campuses and connecting young adults with their faith; and e.) visiting the sick in hospitals. In subsequent weeks, we will list more. Please be generous in your gift to this year’s CMA. St. Mary’s has a goal of $100,412.00 and St. Bridget’s has a goal of $18,203. They are both achievable if everyone helps out!

NEW CONFESSION SCHEDULE
Because of the change in our Saturday Mass schedule, it is also necessary to change our confession schedule. Beginning Saturday, May 15, Confessions will be heard at St. Mary’s Church from 3:30pm until 4:30pm Beginning Wednesday, May 12, Confessions will be heard at St. Bridget’s Church from 5:30pm until 6:00pm We are sorry for inconvenience this causes – but, with no Saturday evening Mass in Bloomfield, it was necessary to move the confessional times. Thanks for your cooperation.

New Facility Usage Procedures:
To comply with diocesan procedures, St. Mary's has adopted new procedures for non-parish sponsored events held in parish facilities effective July 1, 2010.

Thy Will Be Done By Me
As part of the Forming Faith Initiative, a website, thywillbedonebyme.com has been created to give you a better idea of the volunteer opportunities available at St Mary's and St Bridget's.

We make this prayer for ourselves and all the people of our Diocese.
Be with us in these months with your life, your love and your encouragement.
Holy Spirit, Touch us, Be with us Always.
