Corbett-Steeves was founded in an age when meticulous detail was a standard. John F. Steeves, the current owner's grandfather, opened his shop John Steeves Practical Patterns in 1914. The company specialized in a variety of hand-carved wood patterns for the foundry industry.
Three years later, the company expanded with the acquisition of another local pattern company and became Corbett-Steeves Pattern Works. That same year, Steeve's son, John K. began his apprenticeship and as business continued to boom throughout the1930's, he became a partner.
John K Jr. joined his father and grandfather as an apprentice in 1945 and is now the company's owner and president. Under John K. Jr.'s direction, the company continued its growth while maintaining its focus on quality and service. As customer needs soared and more space was required, the business moved to its current location in Rochester NY, which still houses all operations. Producing all aspects under one roof enabled Corbett-Steeves to keep costs down.
With the addition of Kevin Steeves, the fourth generation, the business has continued to reach new markets, keeping the old traditional methods and implementing new computerized technology to stay ahead of customers' demands. By producing quality products on a budget, Corbett-Steeeves Pattern Works, Inc. has remained a leader in the pattern making field for over 80 years.
